Mechanisms, Health, and Physical Determinants

Mechanisms refer to the underlying biological and physiological processes that influence how the body functions. Physical determinants of health include factors such as physical activity, nutrition, and environmental conditions that shape individuals’ well-being and physical condition.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

Identify the determinants of physical health in older adults in order to support healthy aging and to better understand the influence of interventions on the physical aspects of aging trajectories.

Identify the mechanisms through which aging and its determinants affect physical health, through preclinical and fundamental studies using animal, tissue, and cellular models.
