FRQS/RQRV Prestige Postdoctoral Training Awards
The Quebec Network for Research on Aging (RQRV) wants to encourage the training of the next generation of researchers in the field of aging and in particular in the fields of biology of aging and social aspects of aging. The RQRV also wants to encourage postdoctoral students in these fields to acquire their training in the United States at the National Institute on Aging of the National Institutes of Health (NIH-NIA) and its affiliated institutions and laboratories, so as to foster a long-term linkage with this internationally renowned institution.
The RQRV has therefore joined forces with the Fonds de Recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS) to co-fund prestige postdoctoral training awards in the field of aging, for applicants who will be doing their research training at NIH-NIA or one of its affiliated institutions or in outside laboratories funded by NIH-NIA. As partners, RQRV and FRQS have agreed to jointly fund these prestige postdoctoral training awards, which will be offered to applicants who have been selected for funding by the FRQ-S Board of Directors in the field of aging and who will be going to study at one of the institutions described above.
The FRQS has committed to provide the total amount of the postdoctoral award in accordance with the applicable scales and standards. The RQRV has committed to add to this award a research-support grant in the amount of $10,000 for each year for which the award is granted. This agreement will cover the FRQS competitions for 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014. The partners wish to fund a maximum of 9 awards in the course of these 3 competitions. The awards will be distributed according to the applications received each year.
